"The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you believe you can do strong enough, you can do. Anything. As long as you believe".

-Bob Ross

Bob Ross is an influence to me because his art is so precise yet his process is very whimsical and effortless. He is very optimistic and talented which is what I hope to be like in the future.

I remember watching his lessons a long time ago because I liked watching a painting develop, but I never paid attention to what he said or who he really was. Recently, my younger sister and I realized that one of his most famous catchphrases is what I live by when I paint. He always says, "We don't make mistakes, we have happy accidents".

When I began teaching my younger sister how I draw, I would always tell her to work with her mistakes and make them part of the drawing. By incorporating our mistakes, we wouldn't have to worry about perfection because we could work with improvisation and get a better outcome than originally planned.

Usually, that was the case. Growing up, as an artist, meant making many mistakes and through that, I learned how to work around and with my mistakes. Hearing a successful artist say something so remotely close to that, assured me that I have been doing the right thing.

Disclaimer: I did not paint the background nor did I ruin it. The brush was dry and the colors on my palette are dried up texture paste with dried paint.
