Knowledge is information gained and retained while creativity is simply organic information.

 

They are both essential for artists because knowledge guides the artist to the correct direction and is gladly interrupted by creativity to create the artist’s idea of a certain concept.

Knowledge provides the first step into the world of reproducing real life into a piece of art or using real life ideas for art.

 

Creativity is original ideas that have not been processed through knowledge or outside influences that may distort and ruin the originality of it. The reason why creativity cannot be the only source of creation in art is because it does not have a solid foundation of the figures that derive form real life and this is also true for abstract art because abstraction still contains lines, shapes and color which derives from the knowledge of art elements. Knowledge is what I consider the rules; and what should a master do in order to break the rules? Learn them first.
